Missouri State Legislature Reconvenes. -

The First Session of the 98th General Assembly

convened on Wednesday, January 7. Six hundred

and seventy-one bills have been filed to date. When the bill filing period closes at the end of

February,  there will be nearly 2,000 introduced. If past sessions are any indication, 25 percent of

those bills introduced during the 2015 legislative session likely affect municipalities in some way.

Several of the 2014 issues will again be on the legislative agenda this session; sales tax exemption,

restricting municipal control of the rights of way, prevailing wage, sunshine law revisions, restrictions

on general obligation bonds, weakening of the tax increment financing law, municipal court

restructuring, restriction on local  traffic enforcement and election law reform.
